Baldwin Wallace - Swimming

SWIM LESSON PROGRAM

SPRING 2020

Children will be placed in groups based on age/ability. Groups of two to four children will be matched with an instructor.  We do offer a level for swimmers who have graduated the swim lesson program and wish to focus on stroke technique. The lessons will be instructed by BW Swimmers and Divers, and supervised by the BW Swimming & Diving coach staff. A description of the levels offered is on page two of this registration information.

Thank you for supporting our team! We look forward to helping your child/children learn how to swim. Proceeds from our Swim Lesson Program help fund our team training trip and equipment purchases.

Baldwin Wallace University Swim Lesson Program Levels and Description

Parent & Child – For ages 6 mo-3 years…this is for new swimmers who might feel more comfortable with a parent accompanying them. We will address comfort in the water, water safety, blowing bubbles, and will introduce front/back floating. Typically the Parent & Child class will be kept to 30 minutes so that our little ones don’t get chilly.

Level 1 – Beginners (over 3 years of age)… We will address comfort in the water, water safety, blowing bubbles, and will introduce front/back floating.

Level 2 – Advanced Beginners…This swimmer has participated in lessons, is comfortable putting their face in the water, blowing bubbles, jumping in with assistance. We will address floating without assistance, flutter kick, jumping in without assistance, and will introduce the freestyle stroke (front crawl) with assistance.

Level 3 – Intermediate…This swimmer is able to float on their front/back and is ready to attempt freestyle without assistance, we will address rotary breathing, the backstroke and introduce diving.

Level 4 – Advanced…We will review freestyle, backstroke, and introduce breaststroke, butterfly plus the elementary backstroke. We will also work on standing dives.

Level 5 – Competitive Swimming Skills…This swimmer has knowledge of all four competitive strokes, and wishes to learn more about proper stroke technique.

*You do not need to be present at all lessons to participate –
but must register in advance of the first lesson to ensure proper staffing
and to hold the spot in your child’s class.

Thank you for your understanding and help with this.
